Sandhem Church
Sandhem Church – By the Lake, Full of History
Sandhem Church is a bright and spacious 19th-century church in Empire style, beautifully situated on the shore of Lake Sandhemssjön. It was inaugurated in 1841 and is the fourth church in Sandhem—the third to be built on the same site. The very first church is believed to have been located along the ancient Eriksgata route, a few hundred meters from where the current church stands.
Inside, the church is airy and light, with interiors reflecting the elegance of the Empire style. Several items from earlier churches in the area have been preserved, providing a sense of the village’s long spiritual heritage.
Sandhem Church is a place where history meets tranquility by the lake. It invites visitors to reflect and take in the serene atmosphere, making it a natural stop for anyone wanting to experience the cultural heritage of Västergötland in a picturesque setting.
