Eriksgatuleden

King Erik's Path

Approximately 14 kilometers (round trip)

Eriksgatuleden (Kink Erik’s Path) is a 7.2 km long one-way trail, steeped in history. The trail follows ancient paths, some of which have been in use for over a thousand years, including by King Magnus Eriksson in the 14th century. The name Eriksgatuleden comes from his journeys to strengthen his rule across the kingdom. Along the way, you’ll encounter the distinctive “hollow ways,” created over centuries by the passage of horses and wagons.

The trail also passes by the remains of Saxarp’s distillery, where the impressive walls of an 1800s potato storage still stand. Information signs along the trail tell the story of its rich history.

Eriksgatuleden is an easy walk through beautiful coniferous forests with little elevation change. Start at Sandhem Church and walk to Saxarp for a shorter hike, or complete the full 14.5 km round trip.

Heneleden

The Hene Path

Approximately 5 kilometers

Heneleden starts at Sägnernas Hus in Svenstorp, a place that offers a café and a museum showcasing pieces of Swedish folklore. There are also camping options including glamping and cottages available for overnight stays.

The trail winds through a mix of country roads, forest paths, and trails, leading you through historical areas. Along the way, you’ll pass the ruins of Hene, a former backstuga (cottage) from the late 1800s, once home to some of the region’s poorer residents. A sign marks the location of the well-preserved ruin.

Further along, you’ll encounter Keset, a former soldier’s cottage from the 17th century, where soldiers fought in various wars, including the Russian War and the war against Denmark-Norway. The remains of Kriken and Rullesås School, built in 1862, also dot the trail, offering a glimpse into the area’s rich history.

The trail is marked with clear signs and is an easy-to-moderate walk, making it a perfect way to explore both nature and history.
